| Bio: | I am currently a nursing student...very close to graduation! I love music all types except contemporary country. I also like to read. Light reading is normally science fiction or fantasy books. Deeper stuff for me would be Toni Morrison, John Updike, Alice Walker, Octavia Butler, Michael Chabon...you get the picture. I also like to read science books, psychology books, Buddhist books, and if I'm not in school nursing or health science books. I love to spend time outdoors although for many years you couldn't get me outside. I like to hike, run, and ride my mountain bike. I am practicing Buddhist with a lot of practice left to do :) I started this journal hoping that people would find it and leave feedback to my posts. With music, I like to analyze the lyrics and I always like to get feedback from people to see what they think of my interpretation. I also like to talk about the books I've read and see what other people who read them have to say. Of course I also talk about what's going on in my life and I would love to hear what other people have to say, even if you think what I'm saying is self-indulgent crap. Sometimes the best way to get perspective is to just ask someone else "what do you think." One of my favorite Buddhist teachers discussed ways to learn about yourself by examining yourself through other people's eyes: What other people say about us is often frightening. We run for fear of being hurt by what people think and we run because we are afraid that what they say might be true. The only way to grow is to confront that fear and become comfortable with it. Sometimes what other people say to you is motivated by their own fears, jealousies, or desires but, there is very often truth about ourselves as well. If we can be brave enough to listen to what other people have to say not only will we learn about them, but we will also learn about ourselves. I hope that through this journal and your responses that I can learn more about you and myself. | |||||||
